I am wondering what the rest of you guys thought of shooting in the cold temperatures this past Sunday.  It looks like the cold temps affected the scores..especially affecting the squads that shot in the morning. If it weren't for having to shoot the league, I would have opted for drinkin a few beers and smokin a cigar at BW3's    Grin......or stay at home close to the wood burner!

I am surprised that there is really no activity on the BTM forum.  Last year, there was quite a bit of activity and some real good discussions.  What's up this year? Lips sealed

Skunk870,
Yes, you hit the nail on the head. Very technical targets. Just look at how all the Master class shooters did, low 40s and high 30s. I believe this course will prove to be too technical for many of the league shooters. Were many of the targets out of the realm of common sense, no!!! but when you  put two targets with such different lines and approaches together you will wound a lot of scores.
I disagree on one point. I found #8 to be in the ground before I could pick them up. Too short a window with no light on the target!!
I hope most of the shooters are not offended by this course as I know some will be and do not get discouraged. A couple of those stations each month to separate the scores would be great, just too many of them together next month.
Hopefully they can adjust next month before it is too and league shooters give up in frustration. The average, once a month, just for fun with my buddies, shooters have to be able to hit 50% of the targets most of the time or they will not return.

Well it looks like the devious target setters at BTM had fun setting this month's targets for the league shooters.  These targets are very challenging in that they are more technical in presentation and require a higher level of focus.   Shocked  I can't say that there were any small window or in-the-ground type of targets, as I have observed in the past.  They are all very hittable... if you keep your head in the game.

I rarely have the opportunity to shoot or practice the league courses before league day and I will say that I was happy to score a 38 on the October course with the team on league day.  I know that many league shooters pre-shoot the league courses and practice the league targets prior to their scheduled day to shoot with the team.  I wonder how they would stack up going in cold, without ever seeing the presentations?   I know that for me, I could improve somewhat with the more difficult target presentations.  However, the targets that appear to be easier will be the ones missed, due to complacency and loss of focus. (IE: "How could I miss those targets.....I ran this station last week" ).  I think all of us have experienced that scenario.

Just a warning concerning station 2.....those targets drop like lead balloons and are very deceptive.  If you get the opportunity, stand behind the trapper and watch them as they are launched.....that will tell you how they are truly flying.
